Classes/Projects
TECH THEATRE I
The purpose of this course is to develop knowledge and application of skills related to technical theatre. Topics will include: scenery, lighting, sound, costuming, hair / makeup, marketing / publicity, and their relationship to the overall theatrical process.
THEATRE ARTS I
The purpose of this course is to cover the fundamentals of acting and theatrical production. Classroom activities include mime/pantomime, improvisation, characterization, and technical theatre. Emphasis will be placed on a variety of in-class performances and individual / group presentations.
TECH THEATRE II-IV
The purpose of these courses are to continue the application of skills related to technical theatre. Students may have the opportunity to participate in campus events and productions.
THEATRE ARTS II-IV
These courses are designed for the student who shows continued interest in theatre arts, and wishes to take advanced courses in theatre production. Emphasis will be placed on a variety of in-class performance and individual / group presentations. Students may have the opportunity to participate in class / campus events and productions.
PRODUCTION I-IV
The purpose of this course is to study acting and / or technical theatre, and the relationship(s) to the production process. Emphasis will be placed on performances and individual / group presentations. Students may have the opportunity to participate in campus events and productions.
UIL THEATRICAL DESIGN
Theatrical Design is a UIL contest in which students can participate by showing their creativity through the theatrical design process. Students who participate, have the opportunity to read and analyze scripts, work as a team or individual, and design an aspect of theatre such as set, costumes, hair & makeup, or publicity in relation to the required prompt. Students will use their creativity by problem solving and applying their vision into reality.
UIL FILM
The purpose of UIL Film is to provide students with the opportunity to explore the art of cinematic storytelling. The films shall focus on storytelling using the techniques and tools found in the cinematic arts.
UIL ORAL INTERPRETATION
The purpose of Oral Interpretation is to encourage the student's exploration of a variety of literary selections, and to enhance the performer's and audience's appreciation of literature through the performer's interpretation of the work. Students will be required to compete in oral interpretation in a variety of events: Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Program of Interpretation (POI), Humorous Interpretation (HI), Dramatic Interpretation (DI) and Duo Interpretation (Duo). Students involved with Oral Interpretation are considered to be members of the Speech & Debate team.
