We know that the students of Birch Elementary School LOVE reading. Now is the time to show us the many places outside of school that our students can be found reading a good book! Students are invited to grab an interesting book and find a cool location while their parents snap a picture of their reading in action. The photograph must show students actually reading the book and the book cover must be visible. All entries will be on display at the Birch Elementary Fall Book Fair (Nov. 13th-16th). WHO: Any Birch Elementary School student (One entry per student) WHEN: From NOW until Friday, October 13th WHERE: Anywhere you choose (outside of school), but please be SAFE! RULES: Participating students must email a photo to [email protected] by October 13th. (Photos will not be accepted via Facebook.) Do not Photoshop your photograph and please include the student’s full name, teacher’s name, and location of the reading spot in the email submission. The photograph must be taken outside of Birch Elementary and not during school hours.

Pine Tree ISD is the host school for the annual Global Maker Day on Tuesday, October 17th! Connect virtually and watch makers around the world share different projects, learning spaces, creations, coding, 3D designs, art lessons, etc. There will be a session every half hour, and they each will have a connected challenge. The 4th graders at Birch with at least 25 Accelerated Reading points were celebrated this morning. These students received a book of their choice from the Birch First book vending machine💙📚💛

In the darkness of Mrs. Scadden’s room, with flashlights & suspenseful music alone, we are reading a suspenseful mystery, Trapped in Death Cave. Each day, the students look forward to read-aloud time to discover the next clue that lies ahead.
