Dawn Moseley, Counselor

Welcome to my page! My name is Dawn Moseley and I'm privileged to serve as the counselor of Pine Tree Parkway Elementary.

I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Art in Political Science and I attended Texas A&M University-Commerce where I earned a Masters of Science in Counseling. I have 20 years of experience dedicated to the education of young minds and along the way I have interacted with students, staff and parents from all walks of life and it has truly been my pleasure to have served these individuals.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy watching the antics of my Yorkie Oliver and cooking.

Theoretical Approaches

When counseling students, I draw from what's called Brief Counseling which is a Solution-Focused Approach (SFBC) to counseling. A man named Steven de Shazer developed this approach to counseling that focuses on solutions rather than the problem. SFBC allows for the student to feel empowered to quickly resolve the problems that brought them to my office.

Counseling and Guidance Programs

I use 2 programs to provide guidance and counseling for students in small and large groups.

I use the Core Essential Values curriculum to teach character building such as respect, caring, honesty, etc.

I also use Mind Yeti which is , a research-based tool that teaches children how to calm down, focus their attention, and connect better to themselves and to others. Mind Yeti is a free online program and even has an app.

The Pine Tree family champions the relentless pursuit of excellence through a compassionate and safe learning environment empowering all students to develop their unique passions and to make a positive impact in a global society.
