Making a Difference, One Child at a Time
I have been involved in education for the majority of my adult life. Seeing the light turn on in a child’s eyes makes it all worthwhile. It is my hope to be an advocate for children supporting them through their educational career.

I graduated from Texas City High School in Texas City, TX and received my first degree in Dental Hygiene from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, TX.  After working in the dental field for 10+ years, I returned to college and received my BS in Elementary Education with a minor in social studies from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. Shortly thereafter, I received my master’s of education in reading and literacy from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN.  I returned to school again to complete a second master’s degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at Tyler. Currently, I’m working on my doctorate of education in curriculum, instruction, and assessment with a
projected graduation date of May 2018. I have taught all grade levels K-8, undergraduate college classes, and graduate college courses. I have developed an elementary science lab program, been an instructional coach, and currently fill
the role of assistant principal at Birch Elementary School.

I have two grown children who have successfully graduated from college and are out on their own. I will be married to my husband 34 years this year. We love to travel, hike, and spend time learning about new things. We also have a sweet, Australian Shepherd named Missy.

Together, we learn, grow, and share. We are looking forward to a great year of exciting successes!
