Special Education Department

Students who have a disability and a need for specialized instruction may be eligible for special education services under the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Students are referred to special education by a referral team.

Special education services are individualized and based on student needs and eligibility. These services may include direct instruction in both regular and special education settings and related services to help the student benefit from education.
Special Education Services Include:
  • Using pre-referral intervention strategies to reduce the need to label children in order to address their learning needs;
  • Children learning side-by-side even though they may have different       educational goals and learning styles;
  • All students benefiting from quality instruction;
  • Ensuring access to the general curriculum to the maximum extent possible;
  • Providing a positive learning environment;
  • Promoting General and Special Education collaboration; and helping students become more successful.
The Pine Tree family champions the relentless pursuit of excellence through a compassionate and safe learning environment empowering all students to develop their unique passions and to make a positive impact in a global society.
