The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is an exam that all incoming college freshmen must take - or meet one of the outlined exemptions before registering for their first semester at Texas public college or university. The exam is used to place students into the appropriate first English and Mathematics courses. Students can be exempt by meeting one of the following:

     * scoring at the college readiness level on the SAT, ACT, or statewide assessment instrument (STAAR),

    * having successfully completed a college-level English and/or Mathematics course.

Please refer to your counselor for your TSI status. Students who take the TSI will do so through the college/university of their choosing. There is a mandatory Pre-Assessment Activity for students to compete prior to the taking the TSI.

  • In 2013, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 5 (HB5) thus giving students the opportunity to "specialize" their coursework during high school to more closely mirror their post-secondary education and/or career goals. PTHS offers a variety of "Programs of Study" for students to meet both their graduation requirements and explore their future career goals. Upon completion of their "Program of Study" students will obtain one or more of the five endorsements set forth by HB5. The endorsements are; Arts & Humanities, Business & Industry, Public Service, Multi-Disciplinary, and STEM (Science,Technology, Engineering & Mathematics).

The "Programs of Study" can be viewed/downloaded below and are categorized by endorsement.

The Pine Tree family champions the relentless pursuit of excellence through a compassionate and safe learning environment empowering all students to develop their unique passions and to make a positive impact in a global society.
