Backpack Program

In the fall of 2015 Pine Tree initiated our weekend Backpack Food Program for students. The program currently provides easy to prepare food items that help meet hunger needs.

Research shows that hungry children have:

Children holding hands
  • Poorer mental and overall health
  • Miss more days of school
  • Suffer greater rates of behavioral disorders
  • Are less prepared to learn when they are in school
  • Repeat a grade in elementary
  • Have more social problems
  • Experience developmental impairments in areas like language and motor skills

Donations Appreciated!

It costs approximately $162 to provide one filled backpack to a child throughout an entire school year.

Your donation will make a tremendous difference in the life of a Pine Tree ISD student.
