Financial Transparency
Financial Awards:

The Texas Education Agency has awarded PTISD its top rating of Superior Achievement for management of the school district’s financial resources.

PTISD first earned the top rating this year under the School First (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) program, which is based on 21 financial indicators used to rate district compliance with financial standards and benchmarks.

The School FIRST program was created in 2001 by the Texas Legislature. Under the annual review, public school districts can be assigned ratings that range from Superior Achievement to Substandard. Ratings are based on analysis of staff and student data, budgetary and actual figures for the year reviewed, and other Legislative requirements.

As required, the PTISD Board of Trustees reviewed the district’s Financial Integrity Rating during an open meeting. A public hearing was also held.   PTISD’s top rating of Superior Achievement allows the district to obtain the best available interest rates, among other results.

The Comptroller of Public Accounts launched the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle program in December 2009 to recognize local governments across Texas that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency online. We are spotlighting those local governments that are:

  • opening their books to the public
  • providing clear, consistent pictures of spending
  • sharing information in a user-friendly format that lets taxpayers easily drill down for more information.

Pine Tree ISD's efforts to present financial information online in a comprehensive and transparent manner have again earned the district the highest possible rating for financial transparency from Texas Comptroller Susan Combs – the 2013 Gold Leadership Circle.

PTISD has earned the top rating each of the last four years for making key financial documents and supporting information easily available to the public via this district website.

Financial transparency is an ongoing goal for any government entity. We encourage and applaud local governments across Texas that are stepping up efforts to give taxpayers a transparent look at where their money goes.
