Dr. Teresa J. Farler was named Superintendent of Schools for Pine Tree ISD in July 5, 2011.
With more than 35 years of experience in public education, Dr. Farler started her career as a high school English teacher in the Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Nebraska. Her teaching experience includes high school and middle school English/Language Arts, Gifted and Talented English/Language Arts and campus GT facilitator, English as a Second Language, and special programs for At-Risk students. In Texas, Dr. Farler has taught in San Marcos CISD and Austin ISD.  Dr. Farler served for two years at the Texas Education Agency as a Middle School Program Coordinator. 

Dr. Farler’s administrative experience included Principalships at both the junior high and high school campuses and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. 

As an educational leader, Dr. Farler has served on leadership boards and task forces for TASA (Texas Association of School Administrators) which includes creating assessment standards for 21st Century Learners and creating the field guide documents used to promote the New Vision for Public Education in Texas. She was selected to be a member of the Future-Ready Superintendent Leadership Academy and was a member of the first TASA Transformational Leadership Academy for Texas Leaders. She was a co-designer with the Schlechty Center in the creation and design of the Network for North TExas Central Office Leaders. 

Originally from a small farming community in Nebraska, Dr. Farler earned both her Bachelor of Arts in English/Secondary Education and Master of Arts in English from Wayne State College.  She earned her Principal certification from Texas State University in San Marcos and her Doctorate in Education Administration from Texas A&M at Commerce. Currently, she is a member of the Longview-Greggton Rotary and St. Matthew Catholic Church where she serves on the Pastoral Council. 

Dr. Farler and the PTISD leadership strive to create a  learning organization with safe and nurturing environments that provide students with challenging, rigorus learning activities that cultivate their curiosity of the learners. Further, it is the  mission of the PTISD leaders  to prepare each student to be a successful, productive citizen in whatever avenue he or she pursues after high school graduation.
